Last updated: 4 November 2026.
This Privacy Policy replaces our prior website-only policy dated 24 November 2019 for the ClayLab mobile applications and related online services described below.
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information Well Designed Things LLC (“Well Designed Things,” “we,” “us”) collects when you use the ClayLab mobile applications (iOS, Android, and web), our Cloud Sync and account features, and our website at claylabapp.com (together, the “Services”), how we use that information, and the choices you have.
ClayLab is a pottery studio log. You can use much of the App on your device without creating an account. If you sign in and subscribe to ClayLab Pro, you may turn on Cloud Sync to back up and sync your library across your devices, subject to the limits described below.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the Services, as described in this policy.
Well Designed Things LLC is the data controller for the Services.
Email: support@claylabapp.com
Country of establishment: United States.
This policy applies to:
• The ClayLab App and related in-app features (including local storage on your device, optional account sign-in, ClayLab Pro subscriptions, and Cloud Sync).
• Our website at claylabapp.com, including pages used for account confirmation, password reset, account deletion requests, and general information about ClayLab.
It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we do not control, even if linked from the App or website.
We collect information in three broad situations: (1) when you use ClayLab locally on your device, (2) when you create an account or use Cloud Sync, and (3) when you use subscription, diagnostic, or website features. The categories below describe what we may collect.
• Email address and authentication credentials you provide (or that your sign-in provider shares with us).
• A unique user identifier assigned by our authentication provider when you create an account.
• If you use Google sign-in: information from your Google account that Google shares with us for sign-in (such as your email address and name, depending on your Google settings).
• If you use Apple Sign In (rolling out and may not yet be available in every build): information Apple shares with us for sign-in. If you choose to hide your email, Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your personal email.
• Session and security tokens stored on your device so you can stay signed in.
We use Supabase for authentication. We do not receive or store your password in plain text.
• Information you enter about your pottery work: piece names, stages, locations, catalogs (glazes, clay bodies, forming methods, and similar fields), dimensions, weight, firing details, decoration layers, notes, status, and timestamps.
• Photos and thumbnails you attach to pieces.
When Cloud Sync is enabled on a device and your account has an active ClayLab Pro entitlement, this library data and synced photos are stored on our cloud infrastructure (database and object storage) so you can access them from your other signed-in devices. Until you enable sync, this content remains on your device unless you export it using in-app backup tools.
• Device and app information: platform (iOS, Android, web), app version, language, and a per-install device identifier we send with sync requests so we can coordinate updates across your devices.
• Sync and app preferences stored on your device (for example, whether sync is turned on on that device).
• Subscription status and purchase history handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat (we do not receive your full payment card number).
• Crash reports and diagnostic logs (for example, through Firebase Crashlytics on native builds).
• Product analytics events (for example, through Firebase Analytics), such as feature usage, configured to support improvement of the App.
• Information you send when you contact support by email.
When you visit claylabapp.com, we may collect standard log information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and referring URL. We use Google Analytics on the website to understand how the site is used. Google may set cookies or similar technologies on your browser for this purpose. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site features.
You can use ClayLab without creating an account. In that mode, your pottery library and photos are stored on your device using the App’s local database and file storage. That local data is not uploaded to our cloud servers unless and until you sign in, have ClayLab Pro, and turn on Cloud Sync on that device.
Clearing app data, uninstalling the App, or using a device-only reset (where available) removes local data from that device but does not by itself delete cloud data tied to your account.
We use the information we collect to:
• Provide, maintain, and improve the App, Cloud Sync, and the website.
• Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
• Verify ClayLab Pro subscription status and enforce feature access, including Cloud Sync and synced media storage limits.
• Sync your library between devices when you enable sync.
• Send transactional emails (such as sign-up confirmation and password reset) through our email providers.
• Monitor stability and security, troubleshoot errors, and understand aggregate usage patterns.
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Respond to your support requests, including account deletion requests.
Cloud Sync is optional on each device and requires a ClayLab account and an active ClayLab Pro subscription (verified with our subscription provider and on our servers).
When sync is on, we store your synced library records and photo files in cloud infrastructure operated by our hosting provider. Synced photos and other media referenced by your library are subject to a storage quota of 10 GB per account for media we host for sync. If you exceed that quota, new uploads may be blocked until you remove synced media or otherwise reduce usage.
We may keep server-side backups of your synced library records (not including a separate copy of every photo file in those backups) for operational recovery. Those backups are retained for a limited number of daily snapshots and are deleted when your account is deleted or after extended loss of entitlement, as described in this policy.
Sync depends on network availability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted sync, immediate consistency across devices, or that every device will always reflect the same data at the same time.
We use trusted service providers to process data on our behalf. They may only use your information to provide services to us and must protect it appropriately. Main providers include:
• Supabase — authentication, database, file storage, sync APIs, and related infrastructure.
• RevenueCat — subscription status and in-app purchase integration with Apple and Google.
• Apple App Store and Google Play — payment processing and subscription management for ClayLab Pro.
• Google — Google sign-in (when you choose it), Google Analytics on our website, and Firebase services (Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config on supported builds).
• Apple — Apple Sign In (when available in your build) and App Store payments on iOS.
• Resend — delivery of transactional email sent on our behalf (such as account confirmation and password reset).
We may add or change providers as the App evolves. We will update this policy when our use of providers materially changes.
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
• Local App data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the App on that device, or uninstall the App.
• Cloud library and synced media remain while your account is active and you use Cloud Sync, subject to our quota and the retention rules in this policy.
• If you request account deletion, we record your request, stop Cloud Sync and cloud media access for that account, and delete or anonymize cloud personal data when processing is complete, except where we must retain limited information for legal, security, or backup integrity purposes for a short period.
• Server-side library snapshots for eligible accounts are kept for a limited number of daily copies and removed according to our backup retention rules or when your account is deleted.
• Crash, analytics, and website analytics data is retained according to our providers’ settings and our internal needs, typically for a limited period.
You can export your library using in-app backup export tools. Contact us if you need help with access or deletion requests not available in the App.
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (such as TLS) for data sent between the App and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and account credentials (including your email and sign-in provider access).
• Account: You may sign out on a device; local data may remain on that device until you remove it.
• Sync: You can turn Cloud Sync off on each device in App settings.
• Access and correction: You can view and edit most library information in the App. Contact us for other access requests.
• Deletion: You may request deletion of your account in the App under Account / Delete account. If you have already uninstalled the App, you can still request deletion from our website or by emailing support@claylabapp.com. After a successful request, Cloud Sync stops and we process deletion of cloud data associated with your account. Deleting your account does not automatically erase data that remains only on a device unless you also remove local App data on that device.
Delete your ClayLab account• Marketing: We do not use your pottery content for advertising. Transactional emails related to your account are part of the Services.
• California residents: You may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information.
• EEA/UK and other regions: You may have additional rights under local law (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). Contact us at support@claylabapp.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
We will verify requests where appropriate before responding.
ClayLab is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
We are based in the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws different from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers (such as standard contractual clauses offered by providers).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the last updated date above. If changes are material, we may also provide notice in the App or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Services after we post the updated policy constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
